DEVICE COMPATIBILITY TEST

Test the Android hardware before you build around it.

The Pitboard Compatibility Test scans the device locally, measures key sensors, and creates a capability report that Pitboard can use to decide which Studio features should be available for that device.

Current download version: v0.1.9

INSTALLING THE TEST APK

Android may warn you before installation.

This is a development/test APK distributed directly by Pitboard rather than through Google Play. Depending on your Android version, you may see a Play Protect or unknown-app warning. Choose Install anyway to continue. You may also need to allow your browser or file manager to install unknown apps.

DID YOU KNOW?

You do not have to build dashboards on the tablet.

Once the device is registered, you can open Pitboard Studio from any modern web browser on your desktop or laptop, design and edit the dashboard on the larger screen, then build the APK for the registered tablet. The tablet is the target device, not your only editor.

UPLOAD YOUR DEVICE REPORT

Paste the complete Compatibility Test report here.

When the live test finishes, choose Copy & Return to Pitboard. The test app will copy the report and return you to this same browser tab. Paste the report below and continue. Pitboard will read the hardware details and Installation ID, then Pitboard Studio will ask you to confirm the device before anything is registered to your account.

Android tip: tap and hold inside the report box below, then choose Paste from the menu that appears.

STEP 1

Static hardware scan

The app identifies Android version, manufacturer/model, display resolution and density, refresh rate, multitouch, camera count and direction, GPS hardware, Bluetooth Classic, Bluetooth LE, USB Host, and built-in motion sensors.

STEP 2

Live sensor test

A ten-second live test measures the actual delivered accelerometer and gyroscope sample rates instead of relying only on the rate advertised by Android.

STEP 3

GPS compatibility

If you grant location permission, the test confirms GPS hardware/provider availability and permission state. Live GPS sampling is temporarily disabled in safe mode on this test build while Pitboard isolates vendor-specific Android location-stack behaviour.

STEP 4

Pitboard Installation ID

The test creates its own Pitboard Installation ID for this app installation. It does not use IMEI, Wi-Fi MAC address, device serial number, contacts, messages, or other invasive identifiers.

HOW STUDIO WILL USE THE RESULT

Unsupported options stay visible, but cannot be selected.

When device registration is connected, Pitboard Studio will load the saved capability profile for the selected target device. Unsupported widgets will be grayed out with a clear reason such as Your device does not support this option. Limited hardware can remain selectable with a warning, for example a low-rate GPS that is suitable for maps but not recommended for precision lap timing.

PRIVACY

The compatibility scan is local.

The test reads hardware capability information only. Camera capability is inspected without reading photos. Location permission is requested only when you run the live GPS test. The report is copied to the clipboard only when you choose to copy it, and it is not attached to your account until you paste it here and confirm the device inside Pitboard Studio.
